O&O Defrag 11 Pro - The only fine tuning instrument worth talking about
Fragmentation is THE main reason for extensive loss of performance under Windows. Because hard disks are essentially the slowest moving components of a computer, any improvement that can be made to them is especially important.
Every time you write a letter, install a program, or save a file, the resulting fragmentation causes your computer to work just that much slower! In order to start a file or program, Windows has to first collect all the corresponding fragments that have been previously saved. It's a little bit like what happens after you've thrown all your socks into one big drawer and then, when you need a matching pair, have no choice but to scavenge through the colorful pile. Even the fastest processor is no great help the computer continues losing speed - speed that you once purchased with an expensive processor. |
